Moving to Colorado

The Daley News - December 2010

Dear Friends,
Yes, you read that right! By the time you read this, we will be packing up our house in preparation for our move to Fraser, CO. Fraser shares the title “Icebox of the US” along with International Falls, MN and is located just outside of Winter Park, about an hour and a half west of Denver. What in the world are we doing there, you might ask. Following Christ, we look forward to joining the staff of Timberline Lodge, a ministry of Torchbearers International (also known as “Capernwray”) at the beginning of January.

For those who have known us a while, you’re probably aware that Jennifer grew up in Germany where her parents served with Torchbearers International for 28 years. Jennifer’s grandparents were long time friends of Major and Mrs. Thomas (founders of Torchbearers) and it is a ministry that we join enthusiastically. The current director at Timberline, Dan Thomas, is Major’s grandson, and it is exciting to be part of a new generation, together picking up the torch to carry the light of the Gospel to a generation that needs to hear about Victorious Life in Christ, now more than ever.

Working at Timberline Lodge
Reid has been invited to become the business manager at Timberline. His responsibilities will include overseeing the operations staff, facilities, and property; human resource management; bookkeeping and general office administration. In addition, we look forward to participating in the lives of the students as much as possible through covenant groups, family groups, discipleship, etc.

Daley News Newsletter
In preparation for our move we are sending out our first newsletter, which will hopefully be something we continue every other month or so to keep our friends and family members updated with us and the ministry at Timberline. We know you receive a lot of mail and don’t want to automatically assume you want to receive regular updates. If you would like to continue to receive our newsletter, please send us a reply and let us know if you prefer email or snail-mail. Reid’s email will be reidd@timberlinelodge.org

Prayer Support
We are in need of friends willing to pray regularly for our family and for ministry of Timberline. Discipleship is not a simple process. The apostle Paul described it as ‘destroying strongholds’in 2 Corinthians 10. We agree with Oswald Chambers who said: “Prayer does not fit us for the greater works; prayer is the greater work.” Your prayers are most welcome as we attempt only what Christ can accomplish. Please let us know if God is laying it on your heart to join us in this way.

Prayer Requests
- For Reid to quickly catch on to all that he needs to know and do in his new position
- For Jennifer to have the grace to balance all the many hats she wears
- For the children’s adjustment to the new surroundings
- For the sale of our home in Columbia
- Provision for a home in Fraser, preferrably close to Timberline
- For the move – logistics involved and saftey in traveling 1700 miles during the Christmas holiday
- That God would provide the prayer and financial support needed for the work at Timberline Ministries

Financial Support
The ministry of Timberline graciously includes some compensation for staff members, but additional support is needed for the work at Timberline Ministries. Thankfully the Lord has provided 15% of the additional support needed. For more information, see below:

- Monthly Support $ 1,000
- Moving Expenses $ 3,500

If you would like to see an itemized list of expenses, please feel free to ask us and we’re happy to share more details.

Donations are tax-exempt under 501c3 Law. However, there are government requirements for our donations because Timberline Ministries is a 501c3 non-profit organization. All deductible donations must meet the “no service or product received” clause. IRS Publication 526, page 5, states that checks showing the names of individuals as recipients are not tax deductible. Therefore, in order for us to process a check that is preferenced for a specific staff member, the check must be made out to Timberline Ministries without the staff members name on any part of the check (memo line included). Donations will be receipted.

We greatly appreciate your joining us in this new adventure! Joyfully in Christ’s service,
Reid and Jennifer
